Abstract
In the Qurʾānic verses on nature, there are many animals mentioned. Birds, mentioned by both special and generic names, are the most frequently named amongst the animals. Some common bird behaviors, such as their flight, social life, and relationship with humans, have been studied the science of behavioral biology. However, some birds mentioned in the Qurʾān have special abilities yet nothing similar has been mentioned to date about these behaviors in biological studies. Such birds, according to Qurʾānic exegeses, were unique creatures that had a sense beyond the usual conscience of birds and exhibited special behaviors. This descriptive-analytic study investigates the behavioral similarities and differences of birds from the perspective of the Qurʾān and biology and investigates the general view of the Qurʾān regarding animals, including birds. From the Qurʾānic perspective, animals and birds have a degree of belief in one God and consequently have faith in and praise for their Creator, though no physical or biological evidence for this has been provided so far and not all humans can understand it.
