Abstract
The Holy Qurʾān is a divine miracle and with the advancement of knowledge, different aspects of its scientific wonders emerge. Today, the importance of iron in many fields, including medicine, astronomy, physics and geology, has been proven. For example, iron has a vital function in the human body, and its presence in the inner layers of the earth creates a magnetic field that protects the Earth’s atmosphere from cosmic rays. In addition, its importance in astronomy, and specifically in the mechanism of burning stars, is undeniable. Verse no. 25 of Surah al-Ḥadīd, while recounting the benefits of iron, speaks of its strength and solidity. This study seeks to examine the benefits of iron and the implications of its descent from the sky, based on verse 25 of Surah al-Ḥadīd. In addition, by examining the structure of the nucleus, it intends to demonstrate that the intensity and hardness of iron is not restricted to the production of material objects. In nuclear physics, iron-56 is known to be the most stable nucleus, meaning it requires the most energy to break apart the components of the iron-56 nucleus. This same property of iron causes a star to shut down when the fuel of the star reaches the iron-56 stage after various processes, because it does not have the energy needed to split this nucleus into a more stable nucleus. For this reason, the mention of the strength and intensity of iron in the Holy Qurʾān, along with its benefits, may be considered an aspect of the scientific wonders of the Holy Qurʾān.
