Abstract
Currently, non-communicable diseases make up the bulk of all ailments, especially in developing countries. Cardiovascular diseases, including myocardial infarction, have the highest rate of incidence, and have the highest mortality rate in Iran. Paying attention to divine guidance and instructions of the infallibles (peace be upon them) on how to lead a healthy lifestyle, based on verses and narrations, goes a long way in the prevention of diseases and heart problems. This study is a review, as well as a descriptive-analytical and library-documentary study, which complements interdisciplinary studies in Qurʾān and Health, and has been conducted using online resources such as Google, Google Scholar, SID and Magiran websites.
The findings of this study are that several factors such as high blood sugar, hypertension, genetic disorders, obesity, sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy habits have a role in the increased incidence of myocardial infarction. There is also a relationship between the pattern of sleep and myocardial infarction, and according to the created order and Islam’s recommendations in the Qurʾān and in traditions, the internal system of the human body in the early morning – from dawn to sunrise - should be awake as this is very effective in preventing the risk of heart attack. Thus, in order to prevent myocardial infarction, in addition to changing lifestyle habits such as nutrition, a good sleep pattern is needed which can minimize the risk of heart attacks.
