The domains of education and upbringing are fundamentally linked to the development and enhancement of human beings and their moral lives. Given the inherent complexity of human nature, the processes of education and upbringing are correspondingly multifaceted, requiring the establishment of foundational elements and the application of diverse pedagogical strategies. Among these strategies are the concepts of warning (inzar) and glad tidings (tabshir). A pivotal inquiry arises regarding the precedence of these two concepts: does warning hold greater significance than glad tidings, or vice versa? Alternatively, might there be a third viewpoint? This study employs a descriptive-analytical methodology to explore these questions, drawing upon the interpretative insights of Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli. The results reveal that there are compelling arguments supporting both positions. On one hand, verses that highlight the singular importance of warning, the more profound effects of warning compared to glad tidings, the preventive nature of warning, and the higher occurrence of the term "warning" and its derivatives relative to "glad tidings" lend credence to the notion that warning precedes glad tidings. On the other hand, evidence such as the extensive use of glad tidings and its positive implications in the Quran, the overarching nature of divine mercy over punishment, the precedence of glad tidings before warnings, and the relative simplicity of achieving glad tidings compared to warnings support the argument for the primacy of glad tidings. It seems that a third perspective may be valid: the relativity of precedence and superiority, which varies according to specific circumstances and individual contexts. In particular situations and for certain individuals, warning may take precedence, while in other contexts and for different individuals, glad tidings may be prioritized; thus, these two approaches serve to complement one another
