Abstract

Strategic environmental management has gained significant importance in management studies as an effective tool for promoting cultural values. The Holy Quran also emphasizes the role of the environment in fostering a monotheistic culture. This study aims to present a model for strategic management of environmental culture from the perspective of the Quran by examining the role of the environment in propagating monotheistic values. The central research question addresses how Quranic teachings and the prophetic tradition can be utilized to analyze and monitor cultural environments to formulate cultural management strategies. This study employs a qualitative content analysis approach, with data extracted from the Holy Quran. The findings reveal that: The Quran refers to the environment in two ways: comprehensive encompassment and partial encompassment, with the latter being more relevant to management. The propagation of monotheistic culture in the Quran is feasible through a competitive analysis of opportunities, threats, strengths, and weaknesses in divine and satanic environments. Three types of managerial programs—explanatory, purificatory, and adaptive operational programs—can be derived from the prophetic approach to monitoring cultural environments. The study concludes that by analyzing the two competing cultural environments—divine and satanic—and designing operational programs based on prophetic traditions, a comprehensive model for the strategic management of environmental culture from the Quranic perspective can be developed.
