Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the primary educational supervisor in the family from the perspective of the Holy Quran, focusing on Surah At-Tahrim, verse 6 (“Protect yourselves and your families from a Fire”), while analyzing its practical applications to contemporary educational and parenting challenges.
Method: Adopting a descriptive-analytical and interdisciplinary approach, the study utilizes the Quran as its core analytical framework. It examines classical and contemporary exegetical works (including Al-Mizan, Majma' al-Bayan, and Tafsir Nemoneh) alongside developmental psychology, attachment theory, and family sociology literature.
Findings: The findings demonstrate that the Quran designates the father as the primary family guardian and educational leader responsible for spiritual and moral direction. However, the mother's complementary emotional and spiritual role is essential and indispensable. The Quranic model establishes a balanced partnership where the father's rational guidance integrates with the mother's emotional nurture. Furthermore, comparative analysis reveals strong alignment between verse 66:6 and modern developmental theories, including Bandura's social learning, Bowlby's attachment, and Kohlberg's moral stages.
Conclusion: Effective Islamic upbringing relies on the harmonious, complementary involvement of both parents rather than unilateral authority. In response to modern challenges—such as digital media oversaturation, parental employment gaps, gender role confusion, and secularized schooling—the Quranic framework offers a vital strategy to reclaim family-centered educational authority, providing a theoretical foundation for parent training and educational policy reform.
