Abstract The purpose of this study is to provide examples of psychological concepts from the Holy Qurʾān and to illustrate some of the fundamental differences between contemporary psychology and Qurʾānic psychology. The main question addressed by the study is whether these differences can be explained by examining a few examples. This library-based research describes and analyzes some of the psychological verses of the Qurʾān. After explaining the fundamentals and rules of Qurʾānic psychology, we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this field of research. In the end, four referents to the psychological concepts of the Qurʾān are mentioned. Some of the findings of this study are: (i) Since the Holy Qurʾān is from the Creator of man and contains guiding principles for human life, it is in complete harmony with the innate and psychological characteristics of human beings, and also contains many psychological points; (ii) The difference between ‘contemporary psychology’ and ‘Qurʾānic psychology’ is, at one level, paradigmatic in nature, not like the differences in certain aspects and issues; (iii) Part of this paradigmatic difference can be found in differences in principles, practical goals, approaches to this world and the Hereafter, in the approach to material and spiritual life and so on. In this paper some examples pertaining to the rules of Qurʾānic psychology have been presented.
